More Funding for Home Education -New Budget Proposal

Looking at the 2020/2021 Education Budget amounts:

Base Funding needs to be equal:

- Kindergarten: $ 3,032.00 for both Public AND Home Education

- Grades 1-9: $6,064.00 for both Public AND Home Education

- Grades 10-12: $6,670.40 for both Public AND Home Education

How will this new funding be divided between the Home Educator (Parent) and the associate board?

- 20% of the new funding amount will go to the associate board

- 80% of the new funding amount will go to the Home Educator (Parent)

For example:

- Kindergarten: $606.40 of the $3,032.00 funding amount will go to the associate board and $2,425.60 of the $3,032.00 funding amount will go to the Home Educator (Parent)

- Grades 1-9: $1, 212.80 of the $6,064.00 funding amount will go to the associate board and $4,851.20 of the $6,064.00 funding amount will go to the Home Educator (Parent)

- Grades 10-12: $1,334.08 of the $6,670.40 funding amount will go to the associate board and $5,336.32 of the $6,670.40 funding amount will go to the Home Educator (Parent)

So how will the 80% of the funding going to the Home Educator (Parent) be divided or used?

- 80% of the amount should go towards supplies and costs associated with Home Education (books, curriculum materials, stationary supplies, craft supplies, phys.ed materials, furniture costs, technology, living expenses such as: heat, electricity, internet, phone, water, waste disposal, etc. ) upon proof of receipts and bills.

For example:

- $1,940.48 is 80% of $2,425.60 the Home Educator Kindergarten funding amount per student

- $3,880.96 is 80% of $4,851.20 the Home Educator Grades 1-9 funding amount per student

- $4,269.06 is 80% of $5,336.32 the Home Educator Grades 10-12 funding amount per student
